SNAP (Simple Network Application Platform)

Simple Network Application Platform (SNAP)คือ Embedded Board ที่ได้รับการพัฒนาให้ทำงานร่วมกับภาษา JAVA (J2ME-CLDC) ซึ่งได้รับการรับรองโดย บริษัท Sun Microsystem พร้อมกับการพัฒนา Class ต่างๆ ไว้อย่างเพรียบพร้อม เพื่อให้ง่ายต่อการติดต่อสื่อสารในโครงข่าย Network และ การควบคุม Input/Output Port ต่างๆ บน ตัว SNAP เช่น I2C, Serial port, SPI port, GPIO เป็นต้น
ข้อแต่ต่างระหว่าง SNAP กับ Embedded Board ทั่วๆไป คือ SNAP จะมีการติดตั้ง OS (moose operating system) ที่อยุ่ในกลุ่มของ Unix ซึ่งเป็น Multi Processing อย่างแ้ท้จริง และ เมื่อรวมกับความสามารถของ JAVA ซึ่งสามารถสร้าง Threads ได้ ทำให้ SNAP มีรูปแบบการทำงาน แบบ Multi Processing อย่างแท้จริง สามารถเิปิด FTP Server, Telnet Server, Serial Server และ HTTP Server ได้พร้อมๆกัน
